Cheers to April and Scott! Happy Wedding Day!

Today one of my oldest and dearest friends is getting hitched; she’s more like a sister really. It is a rare thing to find people that we know – and more importantly, want to know – for 25 years or more. April and I have been friends since about the 1st grade, when we were in classes across the hall from each other and could see each other through the window in the door.

We’ve been through girl scouts together, elementary, middle, and high school, field trips, celebrations, school projects, late nights, paving our way, puberty (ACK!), aunt-hood,  early adulthood, a few trying times, and many, many, wonderful, memorable times. We’ve lost touch at times and found each other again. We’ve laughed; we’ve cried; we’ve laughed so hard that we’ve cried. The richness of our friendship is one of those that we can get busy with our own lives, living in different places, but we are finally able to get together – be it days, weeks, months, or even years later – we can pick up right where we left off when we see each other. I am so grateful for my friend, and I’m so very very happy that she has found her prince charming! Scott, you are one lucky man!

Here’s to 25+ more years of friendship and a lifetime of joyful memories and growing old together for the two of you! I love you lady! Can’t wait to celebrate with y’all this evening.

“Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art…. It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival.”
