Wedding Wednesday | S.O.S. | A DIY Emergency Kit by Mae Mae

Happy Hump Day Friends!

Today’s Wedding Wednesday is brought to you by our featured writer, Mae Mae, who is one of the most organized people I know! She prepared this kit for my wedding last year, and it was AMAZING. Seriously… she went above and beyond. We had anything we could have needed. So if you’re planning a wedding or are a bridesmaid and dying for a “job”… this might be just the project for you! Without further adieu…

A DIY Wedding Emergency Kit how-to from our organization guru Mae Mae:

‘Tis the season for weddings, and you may just find yourself appointed as organizer of the Wedding Day Emergency Kit. You should never take this job lightly. You could literally be the person that saves the day! As much as we would like to think otherwise, THE perfect day we’ve been daydreaming of is typically far from perfect. Everyone has at least one disaster story that happened behind the scenes of their wedding day.

Right before I walked down the aisle – like literally 5 minutes, my right shoe decided it didn’t fit! It was flopping all over the place (ok maybe that’s a slight over exaggeration)! Luckily, my Wedding Coordinator was prepared with her emergency kit, and no one was the wiser.

{Mae Mae as a beautiful blushing bride – she might kill me for slipping this pic into the post :)…but isn’t she gorgeous??}

I recently made a pretty extensive wedding emergency kit for one of my besties last year that I wanted to share. Now, I recognize that it is a little over the top but I prefer to be over prepared!

I recommend making a list that you are able to itemize and keep with your kit to assist whomever uses it. No guessing here! I found putting the items in a bin and taping the list on the lid was very beneficial. This list will not be misplaced and everyone can study before the big day begins! I also recommend using ziploc bags to help organize your items. You are now able to label the ziplocs with what items they contain. I highly suggest you do this to make your day more efficient!

I separated the possible needed items into four categories. The four I chose were Beauty, Uh Oh, First Aid, and Low Energy. Many of the items you can purchase in travel size to save on space. The following lists are alphabetized and not in order of importance.

{which P.S. can be customized for your event}

  • AA/AAA Batteries
  • Lint Roller
  • Chalk (wedding dress smudges)
  • Clear Nail Polish
  • Double Sided Tape
  • Dryer Sheets
  • Earring Backs
  • Fabric Tape
  • Fabric Wrinkle Spray
  • Krazy Glue
  • Panty Liners
  • Pen & Paper
  • Phone Charger
  • Safety Pins
  • Sand Paper (rub bottom of shoes)
  • Scissors
  • Sewing Kit
  • Stain Removal Pens / Wipes
  • Static Guard
  • Tampons
  • Tissue Packets

Keep in mind that this emergency kit is not only for the bride but also the whole wedding party and everyone involved with the big day! My hope is that you are able to take my list and customize it to your needs/wants. Good luck and remember your emergency kit could literally save the day!
