The Creative Home | Tour Claire’s Creative Twist on Minimalist

If you missed my first post in The Creative Home series, click HERE to tour Dorothy’s Greenville flat.

Next up on the creative home tour, here’s a glance at my dear friend Claire’s Anderson, SC home…she is not one for lots of decor or clutter, but her choices are creative, and some even quirky. Her home is welcoming in a palette of mostly cool neutrals with a few (and one suprisingly bold) color choices throughout.

Let’s get started…

A welcoming entry way with a bold, bright floral rug, a sweet table, and an artsy rendition of her home state – with her home county highlighted in red – greet you upon entering the home.

A pretty open floorplan leads you next into the living room space. Coral and colorful accent pillows bull the cool wall tones from her wall color and the warm tones from her furnishings. The TV cabinet to the right in the photo below was custom built by her Dad. A funky blues festival poster (designed by me) and fun saxophone art decorate her mantle in the living room.

As you can see in the photo above, her kitchen, keeping room (a.k.a workout/office/sitting room), and dining room are easily accessible and visible from the living space. Her color choices all blend seamlessly to link the spaces.

Above: A view from the entry way to the living room.

Her guest rooms, off the hallway just though the entry, reflect the same neutral palette that leans toward the cool side of the color wheel. Both are very welcoming to out of town guests, just one sign that Claire loves to entertain in her home!!

A fun display in the hallway is not only aesthetically pleasing, but a reflection of Claire’s love for travel. Six breathtaking photos from a trip to Greece with friends decorate her hallway.

Opposite the Living room and behind the entry way wall sits her dining room with a large, conversation friendly table and 8 quirky clocks used as decor. Funky green and white chairs and bold coral cornice boards bring light and life to these neutral (yet lovely) smoked oyster walls.

Opposite the clock wall, a bright painting adds interested to another open wall space.

Claire’s third bedroom, the master, continues the cool neutrality, but funky framed fabric provide interested to the far wall in her bedroom.

A sweet sitting room leads into the master bathroom, where Claire has created a fun yet functional make up storage frame that Pinterest would applaud… and don’t you just want to soak in that bathtub?

Back in the main living space, peeking through the door behind the fireplace we find one of my favorite features of this house – an amazing sun room with a comfy couch for lounging and lazy sundays. Pops of lime green and turquoise make this room lively.

Heading back into the house, to the left of the sunroom is a cute little breakfast nook with a table hand crafted by Claire’s Dad.

Turning to your right, you’d walk into the laundry room…

…a surprisingly beautiful space for chore-doing. Have you ever seen a happier place to wash clothes?

Heading back you you enter the kitchen to your left. This health nut doesn’t skip on flavor in her food or function in her kitchen!

Last but not least…the multi-functional room that greets you if you enter through the garage. This fitness queen begins most of her days here, and even her workout room is stylish with a peacock feather rug and cool wall unit.
