Movie Night Turned Birthday Party

Every year when planning my children’s birthday party, I always am curious about their input. We have done an “Under the Sea” party, cupcake party, and superhero party. This year, my oldest turned 5 and she really wanted a “movie night” for her birthday party. Now, our family does a movie night once a week. We all eat dinner in front of the TV and watch a new movie snuggled up on the floor together. After dinner the “popcorn fairy” comes and puts sprinkles in the popcorn to make it more fun. The girls absolutely love it and it’s a quick and easy treat! So I totally jumped at the chance to do this as a birthday party. Not to mention this is the first event both of us Laurens from the Olive Shoe were able to pull off an event together!! It really was a total blast for both children and adults alike.

Decor – The decor was so fun, magical, and yet pretty simple. We wanted to create the feeling of being in a movie theater but also keeping it simple as well. I think our decisions were a total success!

Food – For the food, I really tried to keep it to kid-friendly while staying true to the movie theater themel. The food seemed to be enjoyed by all – especially the popcorn table for the children.

Activities – The activities I kept pretty basic. We limited it to the movie, pinata, and beach balls in the yard. Honestly, the children were so entertained by the movie they watched it for about 40 minutes straight without leaving the room – it was fantastic!

In the end, the party was a huge success. Both the children and adults were able to have fun and enjoy the Birthday party with limited conflicts as well. I am so thankful to have my family in town to help me, and our Tallahassee village as well, to make my children’s birthday so special! Can’t wait for the next year!
