New Years Detox | Recipes For A Fresh Start

I tend to end each year with binge eating, carbo loading, and way too much booze. It can be so hard from Thanksgiving through New Year’s to be eating healthy and maintaining your workout routine. Although this year was easier for me to stay focused, I definitely still got very indulgent over the holidays. That is why I like to start each new year with a detox from things that aren’t super good for my body and things that I crave. I have found that Whole30 has the best plan that is workable for me. Whole30 cuts out so many things that I crave and have trouble with controlling binge eating like grains, sugar, alcohol, soy, and dairy. So in preparation for a fresh start, here are my favorite Whole30 and detox meals that I eat during my clean-eating month of January.

Breakfast – I must have breakfast every morning. I am not one of those people who can skip out and have a good day. I get hangry, tired, and dizzy if I don’t eat each morning. I even have to eat before my early morning workouts. I usually keep my breakfast simple with a banana and a couple of eggs. However when I have the time or looking for a change, this list is some of my most favorite recipes.

This hash is great really any time of the day! But is super healthy and very filling.

This is a huge crowd favorite in our home! Quick and easy and oh so delicious.

You don’t have to sacrifice your favorite meals when doing Whole30 – you can still get all the same delicious flavors! Check out this twist on a breakfast classic.

I love this casserole because it is great to save and eat later in the week:

I love hot cereal for breakfast and this one is fantastic! (NOTE: This one isn’t specifically Whole30 but it is Paleo and easily made Whole30 by trading out the grains.)

Detox Smoothies – I love a good smoothie. Another item that isn’t Whole30 compliant, however they do have their benefits and place in trying to reset your eating habits and detox. Here are my favorite ones.

Fresh Lemon Ginger Detoxifying Smoothie - dairy free, gluten free, plant based, easy, delicious!

Lunch – This is another meal that I can’t afford to miss. Since I workout most days at 6am by noon I am usually hungry, but not starving. It is so important for me to eat lunch because on days I don’t I tend to binge eat right before dinner or with my late night snacks. I don’t tend to eat big lunches and most days I just eat leftovers – but here are some of my favorite lunch recipes.

This is a family favorite as well – even the kids have started requesting this in our daily routines.

Power bowls are also something I really enjoy during my clean eating in January. This one is one of my favorites and it’s so easy to add protein to as well.

This one is simple delicious and easy to eat anytime of the day

Dinner – Dinner is a meal I often struggle with as far as making poor choices. I am usually great at keeping my eating in check until it is nighttime. I have a horrible habit of eating carb heavy dinners with a lack of protein and vegetables. By eating a more Whole30 lifestyle, it helps curb my nightly cravings and I don’t feel the need to binge eat at night.

Whole30 is certainly not for everyone. But it has worked for me in regards to starting fresh, curbing my cravings and bad eating habits. It can be so difficult sticking to a strict routine like Whole30 – but meal planning has seriously been the best way to stay focused and hold myself accountable. I hope you are able to find some great new recipes to add to your rotation and help start your new year off right.
